A name for the violent resistance campaign against French control of Algeria, centered in the city of Algiers in the 1950s in the midst of the Algerian War. Though French forces would successfully suppress FLN activity in Algiers, the effort would be costly, and ultimately, France would relinquish its control over Algeria.
