North American Fur Tradepull it on the timeline
Network
The long-running practice of harvesting and trading furs from the North American interior for export to European markets and domestic production. The furs of certain animals found in abundance in North American ecosystems such as beavers and otters were highly prized for their water resistant and warm qualities. Steadily increasing demand over the course of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries made fur trapping an extremely lucrative business and important driver of western expansion.
